As that song stuck in my head right now everytime I remembered that momment. Actually it was the first time I heard it when I was in the middle of my flight from Tampa, FL to Atlanta, GA. Well yeah I admitt that delta airlines was pretty awesome for the entertainment (at least in my trip to go to CA) but my stomach was hurting because we just got small snacks. So I have to purchased the Sandwich that contain bacon, which I have to take all of it first so that only turkey and vegetable left over in my sandwich. Hard enough for Muslim, I know..
It was pretty awesome trip, daring, challenging, tiring, and of course FUN! It was my first time travelling by plane alone by my self! From East Coast to West Coast of USA, I made my trip to San Francisco, California! wuhuuu!!! I had transfer flight in Atlanta, GA and Minneapolis, MN, pretty cool to feel the awesomeness of cold and the purity of snow :D
There were 67 AYA exchange students there which also consist of YES (Youth Exchange and Study Group) and FLEX (Future Leader Exchange) students which actually a scholarship program that is funded by the US department of State. YES students come from the country that have a majority of muslim, so my country, Indonesia included in it. It was built in order to make a better relationship with Muslim Countries after 911 incidents. While FLEX students come from the former Soviet Union country such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Kirghikstan (and many other -tan countries :D). While the rest of purely AYA students mostly come from Germany and the other come from South Korea, Polland, China, Thailand, etc.
So I made it to San Francisco! Well, the contour of the land it self was pretty magical, they have about 44 hills! And how smart am I wearing my boots with the heel to hike up and down the hill of San Francisco! Good learning from the experience! Always believe picture you have searched before going to that place :P
The weather there quite same with St. Pete, FL where I live now. It wasn't that cold, lots of beaches and pier :D I think the most attractive parts from SF was their Golden Gate bridge, although the color was red and I didn't know where does the 'golden' came from, lol :P
I cannot imagine living there, I mean it was pretty good for vacation. But not for living despite the land was very expensive there to build a house. Even driving and walking was hard enough because most of the street was very steep because of the hills. However lots of famous people have lived there such as Danielle Steel (novelist, during my mom's era), Jerry Garcia (ben&jerry ice cream and encourage the hippies move), there were Martin Luther King Park (near the California Science Museum) and also the Alcatraz, which was formerly a prison for prisoner who broke the rules in jail.
I was very happy to get a chance to go there, meet a new friends (especially my beloved roommate from South Korea <3) and I also met some friends that know my Indonesian Exchange friends since they had a double placement or with the same cluster. Well in every meeting there's always a goodbye :( Time to go back to Florida and get back to school life..
