My Host Family

We were having dinner together as a whole family, because that day, school was off (it's a labor day)  and Anissah and Andrew came to the house. So yeah, mom like her dining table was full of people :D Then as dad said,we are having 5 star dinner, mom cooks really good! We don't have to go to the restaurant though...

IED MUBARAKQ at MASJID AL-SUNNAH

Sammah, me and Sarah She wants to cover her pimples! :P Cadar=khamar (well, I don't know how to spell it actually, Sammah said that 'cadar',she call it as'khamar') Sarah :D Brothers Sisters Cute little girl and boy, went to Ied prayer like they want to have ballroom party :P So today, I am not going to school, instead, I celebrate Idul Fitri :D I went to Sammah's house and then together we went to mosque to do Id prayer. We have pray at the gym actually so I don't know actually is it the mosque or not. Then we're having breakfast with arabian food at the park.I met some of my friends at school, I don't know actually that there are many moslems at my school (not many actuallly but for at least 10 should be enough to be categorized as many in boggy, St. Pete right) Then I went to Sammah's house, went out for shopping together and having pizza for lunch then her brother gave me a ride to home :D

HAPPY IDUL FITRI!

Labor day bahkan mengalahkan hari raya umat muslim di sini! Instead of dengerin takbir berkumandang sepanjang malam (jadi kangen denger takbiran malam2 sebelum tidur setiap idul fitri di kamar :D), pas buka puasa malah tv nyetel lagu2 rohani kristiani terus berita nyiarin tentang pastur yang mau bakar al-Qur'an karena rencana pembangunan masjid di lokasi 911, bahkan seorang kartunis yang menjelek2an nabi muhammad dapat penghargaan freedom of speech! Can you imagine how rude is that! Sangat miris, miris, hati dan iman rasanya seperti disayat-sayat. Ya Allah,

Great People

This morning, I went to the church with my host family. Mom asked me to go because there were special guest coming to the church. They are great people who has given their best service to the nation and people. Those are paramedic (nurse and doctor), millitary, and fire fighters. I talked with the old lady who was sitting next to me, she is a nurse, she telling me how she helped people and things like that, she was very nice,I want to take picture with her, but I was too shy to asked her (isn't that awkward she might think). But I have picture with some other great people :D   Alina, Major of St. Petersburg-Florida and me :D Me with great soldiers men Thank you for great sacrifice :D

Alina's Birthday and Cup Cakes!

In August 29th, my host sister, Alina, was having her 17th birthday. It's different here, because they're not celebrate their 17 into a big party unlike in Indonesia which most of us called it as "sweet 17". They celebrate the big party when they're 13, 16,18 and 21. Alina had celebrated her sweet 16th birthday party (it's bigger party than her 17th). But still, she celebrated her birthday for 3 days. First day, on Friday, August 27th, her friends came and we're swimming and have dinner together. Second day, we're having dinner at the restaurant, just for the families, Adam,Alina, Mom,Dad and Me :D. and the third day, on Sunday,August 29th, which was her official birthday, I helped mom to give the frosted itching for the cup cakes :D We'll distributed cup cakes and Ice cream for Alina's youth group friends at church. I made the frosting on Cup Cake Look at the result!

What's bring me to Florida?

What do you think? Why am I hosted in Florida? I don't know either, untill one day, after my local coordinator brought me to the beach and we went to Dolphin sight seeing too in the cruiz (unfortunatelly we didn't see any of them), he told me that because I have asthma, yeah ASTHMA! My host family decided to pick me up, because my host sister have an asthma too so my host mom think she can handle me. It's just funny though :D *Yeah, it is not the only reason I came here though, there are still many things that bring me here, but I just think that God is really kind to me,I even want to hug him, thanks Allah :D

New Perspective of America

My experiences after living about 3 weeks in St. Petersburg, Florida, is that my first perspective toward people and the country is different with the reality to live here. First, from the school, I thought that American People don't study hard and respect the teacher well. But I saw some people are really diligent and most of them are respect their teacher too. Then second one, I thought that they will underestimate me or my country. But they are not. When I tell them I am an exchange student, they even wanted to be like me, as an exchange student and also they interest to know where I come from, how's my country, even though some of them don't know where Indonesia is. I think because America is actually, multi cultural country, specially in Florida, I can meet all kind of people, white, black, indian, latin american, asian, so they are more respect to each other. No one being discriminated, If I don't tell them I am an exchange student, they might not know because all
